MillionPlus welcomes new Graduate Guarantee for qualified nurses and midwives in England

MillionPlus, the Association for Modern Universities, has today (11 Aug) welcomed the announcement of a new Graduate Guarantee for qualified nurses and midwives in England.

Rachel Hewitt, Chief Executive of MillionPlus said:

“The commitment that thousands of new jobs will be unlocked across the healthcare sector and will see new support for both graduate and Trusts to improve recruitment and ensure a seamless transition from training to employment is vital for the longevity of the NHS and its university partners.

“Modern universities provide a critical pipeline to the NHS and have a long and well-established tradition of training a major part of the nursing workforce in the UK. 76% of nursing students and 70% of midwifery students were at modern universities in 2022–23, and they have partnerships with 209 NHS Trusts in England.

“MillionPlus and its members look forward to engaging with the government and wider stakeholders in the coming months to help deliver these ambitions.”
