London Metropolitan University — Cyber-Harassment Study
London Metropolitan University is leading a nationwide study into cyber-harassment, inviting participants to share their experiences of online abuse to build a clearer evidence base around prevalence, impact and response mechanisms.
The research explores psychological harm, behavioural effects, reporting barriers and the adequacy of current legal and institutional protections.
As digital communication becomes central to everyday life, cyber-harassment represents a growing societal challenge affecting wellbeing, participation and freedom of expression. By gathering lived experience data, the study aims to inform prevention strategies, victim support frameworks and policy development.
The project also engages advocacy organisations and digital safety experts, ensuring findings translate into practical interventions. It highlights how universities can respond rapidly to emerging social harms and contribute evidence to national debates on online safety.
