MillionPlus announces election of Treasurer and newly appointed Executive Committee members

MillionPlus, the Association for Modern Universities, has today (3 August) announced that Professor Damien Page, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Buckinghamshire New University, and Professor Georgina Andrews, Vice-Chancellor of Bath Spa University, have been elected to serve on the MillionPlus Executive Committee.

Additionally, serving Executive Committee member Professor Charles Egbu, Vice-Chancellor of Leeds Trinity University, has been elected MillionPlus Treasurer.

Professor Charles Egbu said:

“I am delighted to have been elected Treasurer of MillionPlus. Modern universities play a vital role in expanding opportunity, developing skills and supporting economic growth across the UK. I look forward to working with colleagues across the Executive Committee to strengthen our collective voice and the contribution of MillionPlus institutions.”

Professor Damien Page became Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Buckinghamshire New University in 2025, having previously held senior leadership positions in higher education and built a distinguished reputation for championing social mobility, educational opportunity and practice-focused learning.

Commenting on his election, Professor Page said:

“I am delighted to have been elected to the MillionPlus Executive Committee and to have the opportunity to help champion the vital contribution of modern universities. Our institutions transform lives and create opportunity for students from all backgrounds. I look forward to working with colleagues across the sector to ensure the value and impact of modern universities is recognised, understood and valued.”

Professor Georgina Andrews became Vice-Chancellor of Bath Spa University in 2025 and has extensive experience of higher education leadership, with a strong commitment to creativity, inclusion and widening access to opportunity.

Professor Andrews said:

“Modern universities are at the forefront of supporting students to realise their ambitions, while also generating cultural, social and economic value in the places they serve. I am pleased to be joining the MillionPlus Executive Committee and look forward to helping advance the organisation’s work on behalf of students, universities and communities across the UK.”

Welcoming the appointments, MillionPlus Chair, Professor Graham Baldwin, University of Lancashire Vice-Chancellor, said:

“I am delighted that Professors Damien Page and Georgina Andrews have agreed to serve on the MillionPlus Executive Committee, and that Professor Charles Egbu has been elected to the role of Treasurer. All three bring significant leadership experience, deep expertise and a strong commitment to the values that underpin modern higher education.

“Their insight and leadership will be invaluable as MillionPlus continues to champion the contribution of modern universities to students, employers, communities and the wider economy, and in working with the new government to deliver on their priorities.”

These colleagues join the existing members on the MillionPlus Executive Committee: Professor Mark Power, Vice-Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University; Professor James Knowles, Vice-Chancellor of Southampton Solent University; Professor Liz Bacon, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Abertay University; and Professor Julie Hall, Vice-Chancellor of London Metropolitan University.
