Million Plus

The Office for Students (OfS) has consulted on its approach to monetary penalties for registered providers. The consultation puts forward a series of proposals, including a 5 step process for determining monetary penalties for institutions that breach one of their conditions of registration. In its response, MillionPlus has focused on the limits of using qualifying income as an indicator of the financial strength of an institution. MillionPlus has highlighted some areas where it believes the OfS needs to offer more clarity on issues in the consultation document. MillionPlus has also cautioned against some of the potential equality impacts of monetary penalties falling on certain groups of institutions.
