International and EU students have an overwhelmingly positive impact on the UK. It is in the best interest of the higher education sector, and the UK economy, that the levels of EU and international students be maintained and then increased, so that the benefits associated with them are themselves increased and spread across the UK.
All universities benefit from having overseas students, just as all universities create additional benefits, both at home and abroad, due to the investment and links these students bring. The higher education sector is diverse, and its strength comes from that diversity, and policy on overseas students must understand that the greatest benefits can only be achieved by tapping into the potential and skills of all universities and all students.
