MillionPlus welcomes UUK’s Powering the NHS campaign

30 Oct 2023

MillionPlus, the Association for Modern Universities, today (30 October) throws its support behind Universities UK’s Powering the NHS campaign.
Rachel Hewitt, MillionPlus Chief Executive, said

“MillionPlus fully supports Universities UK in highlighting the urgent need for healthcare education reform. Many of the recommendations outlined in the position paper closely mirror the findings in our report Who trains the nurses? Universities and the placements shortfall.

“Ensuring universities receive stable, long-term funding, enabling tariff funds to track students, increasing Government investment in crucial infrastructure such as simulation and supporting outreach programmes to promote healthcare careers are all critical actions to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare education. These measures will unquestionably bolster our healthcare workforce, support students, and ultimately enhance the quality of healthcare services nationwide.”

  4. What are modern universities? Modern universities are long established centres of higher education in their communities with roots that stretch back decades, if not centuries. Many gained university title following legislation agreed by parliament in 1992. They make up almost half of the UK university sector with over a million students studying at modern universities every year.
