Parliamentary Roundtable: The Future of Teacher Education – educational excellence everywhere?

06 Jul 2016

On Wednesday 6, July MillionPlus will hold a discussion on the Education White Paper, and its impact on the future of teacher education in the UK. The discussion will be hosted by Neil Carmichael MP, Chair of the Education Select Committee in the House of Commons. The event will be held in Committee Room 15 within the Houses of Parliament, between 1pm – 2.30pm

Speakers:

  • Neil Carmichael MP, Chair of the Education Select Committee
  • Prof Rama Thirunamachandran, Vice-Chancellor of Canterbury Christ Church University
  • Mary Bousted, General Secretary of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL)
  • Current head teachers from both primary and secondary schools

The government’s proposed changes to teacher education pose many questions, and this roundtable will provide an opportunity for those in the sector to engage with MPs and Peers, and to get their points across. It is very important that Parliamentarians are made aware of all of the ramifications of the current proposals, and as such we hope it to be a lively and informative discussion.

This will be an invitation-only event. For more information, please contact Adam Haxell, MillionPlus Senior Parliamentary Officer, at Adamhaxell@millionplus.ac.uk.
