Professor Rama Thirunamachandran is the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Canterbury Christ Church University. He joined the University in October 2013 and has led the institution forward in a number of areas including the development and implementation of the University’s Strategic Framework 2015 – 2020 and the establishment of a School of Engineering, Technology and Design and School of Medicine.
In addition, Rama was Chair of the Higher Education Academy between 2015 and 2018 and was also a UCAS Board member between 2010 and 2013. He has been a member of the Universities UK Board since 2017. He is also a Non-Executive Director of the Medway NHS Foundation Trust.
Prior to this, Rama was Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost of Keele University for five years with overall responsibility for Keele’s academic activities. From 2002, he was Director for Research, Innovation and Skills at the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) with an annual budgetary responsibility of £1.5 billion. His responsibilities included oversight of the operation of the Research Assessment Exercise and the development of the Research Excellence Framework.
Dr Greg Walker is the Chief Executive of MillionPlus, the Association for Modern Universities.
Greg is a university governor and former Deputy Chief Executive of Colleges Wales, having previously served as acting Director of Universities Wales. He has been a member of a number of Higher Education Funding Council for Wales Committees between 2006-16 and played a significant role in the much-praised Diamond Review on HE Funding in Wales in 2016.
Greg is completing an MBA in Higher Education Management at University College London. Greg taught political science at Cardiff University in the mid-2000s, where he later gained a PhD.
