MillionPlus comments on snap general election announcement
MillionPlus, the Association for Modern Universities, has today (18 April) commented on the announcement of a snap general election on 8 June.
Professor David Phoenix, Chair of MillionPlus and Vice-Chancellor of London South Bank University, said:
"The announcement of a general election in June may well have implications for the passage of the HE and Research Bill and urgent clarification on the Bill's status is required due to its impact on the sector's regulatory and funding environment.
"Given this cloud of uncertainty, alongside unresolved issues around what the vote to leave the EU means, we urge all parties to use this opportunity to make clear their aspirations for the continued success of higher education in the UK.
"We look forward to engaging in debate about the future funding and policy agenda and how this might impact on universities and they way in which they continue to help shape opportunities for individuals and society."
