Breaking with Tradition – Universities @ 21

Pamphlet celebrating 21 years since the 1992 Further and Higher Education Act which gave rise to many new universities.  Eleven writers contribute their reflections on this significant change in the higher education landscape, including current Universities Minister, David Willetts MP; Sadiq Khan MP, Shadow Justice Secretary who attended the University of North London (now London Metropolitan University), former Higher Education Ministers at the time of the of the legislation, Lord Alan Howarth and Lord Tim Boswell, as well as Vice-Chancellors and 2006-8 NUS President, Gemma Tumelty, who was the first President of the NUS to attend a modern university.
