million+ responds to NUS' proposals for an alternative model to fund higher education

million+ today (Wednesday) welcomed NUS’ Blueprint for an alternative higher education funding system as a useful contribution to the debate about the future funding of higher education.

Pam Tatlow Chief Executive of the university think-tank million+ said, “We need a genuine debate about the advantages and disadvantages of the current system for students, universities and the Exchequer. The current model has delivered more funding to the sector but it is complex for students, predicated on the notion of a standard full-time student and discriminates against those who want to study part-time.

“The NUS blueprint brings a welcome new perspective and shows that there may be a range of options to meet the challenge of delivering new opportunities for future generations of students and the funding which universities require if they are to be key drivers of innovation and social mobility.”
