million+ welcomes the Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission’s Manifesto for Change
The university think-tank has welcomed the publication of ‘Business and Social Mobility: a Manifesto for Change’ by the Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission.
Professor Michael Gunn, Chair of the university think-tank million+ and Vice-Chancellor of Staffordshire University, said:
“The recommendations of the Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission will be warmly welcomed by both graduates and universities. Graduates should be judged by employers on their merits and not on the university which they attended or the UCAS points which they had on entry to university.”
“Too many employers use recruitment practices that reinforce old hierarchies and attitudes which have no place in modern Britain. Ministers should promote the Commission's recommendations and ensure that employers recognise the value of all universities and the talents of their students.”
