million+ comment on University Access Agreements 2014-15
Commenting on the release by OFFA of the Access Agreements approved for Universities and Colleges for entrants to universities in England in the academic year 2014-15, Pam Tatlow, Chief Executive of the university think-tank million+ said:
“Universities are committed to widening access and supporting student success”.
“However the abolition of the nationally funded AimHigher scheme and the new HE funding regime have meant that the responsibility for funding access work is increasingly being transferred to the graduates of the future via higher tuition fees and tuition fee loans”.
“Ministers must balance this out by ensuring the student opportunity fund is retained in full so that universities which do best at promoting access to higher education retain some direct funding”.
