MillionPlus welcomes steps to encourage accelerated degrees, particularly where such degrees can provide a more attractive offer for mature students as indicated by the DfE. However, if accelerated degrees are to be successful in appealing to mature students in the future, then there must be assurances that that support mechanisms for mature students will be upheld throughout the full study period. MillionPlus cautions against an overestimation of growth in accelerated degrees in the coming years, which will be dependent on demand. MillionPlus emphasises the fact that accelerated degrees should contribute to a wide range of offers in the sector that offer flexibility to students.
