The million+ 2012 programme of events celebrates the 20th anniversary year of modern universities being entitled to apply for university title. Further events and initiatives will be added during the year – check back here for more information.

Parliamentary reception and exhibition: Modern Universities Changing Lives
Tuesday 6 March 4.30-6.00pm, Terrace Pavilion, Palace of Westminster
Hosted by Paul Blomfield MP, Secretary All Party Parliamentary Universities Group

The reception will mark the exact date of the 1992 Further and Higher Education Act receiving Royal Assent and offers an opportunity for parliamentarians and others to celebrate the achievements of modern universities, their students and graduates. There will be a number of high profile speakers and guests will include Vice-Chancellors, staff and current students from modern universities. The dinner again marks the exact 20th Anniversary of the 1992 Further and Higher Education Act receiving Royal Assent. We are delighted that Lord Boswell, Education Minister at the time of the Bill’s passing, will host this celebratory event. (This event is by invitation only).

Launch of million+ / NUS Mature Students Report
Wednesday 23 May 2012, 1.00pm – 3.00pm, Terrace Pavilion, House of Commons
Hosted by Graham Evans, Conservative MP for Weaver Vale
(and a former mature student at University of Manchester Business School)
This event will launch the final report or ‘best practice guide’ of the Mature Students project. Both Les Ebdon and Liam Burns, President of NUS will speak.
